Our security consultant, Indrajeet Bhuyan, recently gave a presentation at Sincon Reloaded conference, organized by Infosec City, on the various ways in which hackers and criminals can steal cryptocurrency. The presentation, entitled “Thousand Ways of Stealing Cryptocurrency,” aimed to educate individuals and organizations on the ever-evolving tactics used by hackers and cybercriminals to gain unauthorized access to cryptocurrency assets.
Indrajeet began the presentation by highlighting the current state of the cryptocurrency market, and how its rapid growth has led to an increase in theft and fraud. He then discussed the different methods that can be used to steal cryptocurrency, including phishing scams, social engineering tactics, and malware attacks. He also talked about how hackers often target exchanges and wallet providers, as these can be vulnerable points in the ecosystem.
Indrajeet also shared several tips and best practices for keeping your cryptocurrency safe. He emphasized the importance of using strong and unique passwords, and encouraged the use of two-factor authentication whenever possible. He also urged attendees to be cautious when clicking on links or entering personal information online, and to always verify the legitimacy of a website or sender before providing sensitive information.
Additionally, the importance of holding your crypto in the hardware wallet, rather than on the exchange and to be careful when downloading any crypto wallet software and verify the authenticity of the developer.
Overall, the presentation was well-received and provided valuable insights on the ways in which hackers are attempting to steal cryptocurrency, as well as the steps that can be taken to protect against these types of attacks. It is important that people be aware of the potential dangers and take the necessary precautions to keep their cryptocurrency safe.
